Lessons From Kevin McCallister

For those of you who don't have Home Alone (I and II) quotes memorized as I do, let me refresh your memory of some wise words.

In a conversation with the Bird Lady, Kevin stated the following: "I understand. I had a nice pair of Rollerblades. I was afraid to wreck them, so I kept them in a box. Do you know what happened? I outgrew them. I never wore them outside. Only in my room a few times."

This piece of advice perfectly pertains to this yellow blazer pictured below.
I know, I know.  It's not the most amazing thing you've ever seen, but for some reason, I LOVE it.  It's actually one of the few items I have purchased at a real department store that wasn't going out of business.
But, like Kevin's skates, this yellow blazer has been under a plastic Dillards garment bag sitting at the back of my closet.
Blazer: Dillards Ruffe top: TJ Maxx Jeans: TJ Maxx Shoes: JcPenney

Other than the fact that I don't want to ruin such a beautiful garment, I think part of the reason it sits at the back of my closet is because I don't know what to wear it with.
Of course, I always go with my usual.  A ruffle top of some sort, high heels, and a pair of very dark jeans (those are jeans..even if they do look black stretch pants).

What would you wear this yellow blazer with?
Please help, I can't make the same mistakes as Kevin did.

I'd wear it with a bright red pencil skirt. Such a cute blazer. By the way, I just found your blog, and I love your sense of humor.

yeah wear it with a skirt! I have never seen that blazer, but I love it! I also rarely wear my most prized posessions... which is a waist and stupid. But I can't help it!

I totally say pull some color blocking techniques and wear it with a bright skirt, or mix some patterns and wear it with a patterned top and skirt. But you are absolutely right, that blazer is BOMB. I love it :) Have a great weekend!!

I would say if ever there were a time to wear it, Easter is it! I think you should definitely pull this out sometime this week. I also think it makes you look like you belong in the South because in my mind all real southern ladies wear fancy clothes in pastel colors. Oh and I think it looks great with what you have on, for real, I'm not just saying that because we're friends

I've been trying to find a blazer to go over a couple of my dresses. I think yours would be fabulous over a maxi dress.

I think that blazer is SUPER cute! It would try paring it with
1- ripped up skinny jeans in white or a light jean blue and heels.
2- teal skinny jeans with black flats or heels.
3- with white 70's style flared jeans.
I think if you mix and match you can get some great use out of that little beauty now go give it a try!
Cheers,
Bre

Hey it's Bre again. Nordstroms had some for less than $20 a few months ago. I would also try Pac Sun if you have one.I now in November they had some for around $20. I got another idea while out shopping today; Mango has some blue short shorts that I think would also go. Wear your blazer there and try it on. You can make a post out of that too!
Cheers,
Bre
