My niece came to visit and late Saturday night I found out she was staying for church on Sunday. The only problem was that she only had her swimsuit, cover-up, and jean shorts. She could have worn any of those things and it would have been fine, but she wanted a dress. Soooo I sorted through all of my clothes, and sure enough with two safety pins this is what we came up with:
You might also remember me saying I once spent an entire month traveling wearing a tie-dye muu muu. Yup, same muu muu for a month.

My question today is, have any of you had a fashion emergency before?
This wasn't my first, when my oldest sister got married, she got married 3 hours away from home and we forgot all the bridesmaids dresses at home. We ran to TJ Maxx and got 4 matching black dresses and duct taped them up the back for the pictures.
Also, on a different note, do you have feelings for or against tie-dye? Most people hate it, but there's a soft spot in my heart for it.

Love your creativity! Your niece looks adorable!
And I LOVE tie dye! My husband has a tie dye shirt that I stole that he got at a Grateful Dead concert and I wear it ALL the time! It's happy :)

I say frame the moo moo and put it in a shrine!
Your niece looks so cute :) I'm not a very sentimental person, (so don't take this the wrong way!) I'd say to nix the dress. I'm sure you have lots of photos of you wearing it!

aww, hailey looks so grown up!! i bet she had a blast trying on your dresses! that dress was a perfect choice to travel in and you look so cute in it!
tie-dye is fun and happy!! i think everyone has made something tie-dye. homemade makes it an extra special piece of clothing.
i think any throwback like tie-dye is totally fine as long you do something to make the whole look a little more modern. your niece looks so adorable! i love her flip-flop tan.
My fashion emergency happened in college. My family was visiting and we went out to eat, and I made the mistake of parking under a tree. The tree was full of birds, and next thing you know my shirt was covered with white spots... There was no resourceful solution other than going into a nearby mall and buying me a new shirt. As for tie-dye... Love it! I was a crafts counselor at a camp and loved when it was time for dying. People got creative with tons of patterns and what they dyed - shirts, socks, bedsheets... I'm for it. If you're not sure whether to keep your dress or not, you could always repurpose it... maybe cut it into rags for cleaning or make a headband out of some of it?
love the colors and all the fun!

If I had been in your shoes in the bridesmaid-dress-leaving scenario, I would have just cried. Kudos to you for level-headedness and resourcefulness!
About the tie-dye... I like it in moderation. I'd be more likely to wear tie-dye accessories than a whole tie-dye garment. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't. A lot of tie-dye just isn't me.
