shirt: Thailand pants: F21 shoes: somewhere in Paris
I am a self-diagnosed stuffaphobe. OH, you haven't heard of that? That's because it's a condition I made up, but it is REAL. I hate stuff, I hate when you have clutter everywhere and junk you don't need, and I have no issue getting rid of most things. The one exception- clothes.
Not only do I feel like, what if I can use that shirt in some great outfit in the future, it might be worth keeping for 9 years? I also have a sentimental attachment to certain items. How do you decide when you should get rid of a piece of clothing? I know this is a standard red polo shirt, and I never even liked polo shirts, but Bret has a matching one and I've had so many good times in it.
I went sailing under the golden gate bridge in it: I've spent at least three 4th of Julys in it: And I bought it in Thailand so it's like a souvenir. I think it's getting too short and I really haven't worn it for more than an hour in over a year.
What is your throwing out policy? (does anyone under 5'7' want it? It's pretty used but very loved).

Oh I'm the complete opposite! I can't through anything away! I have moved so many times in the last ten years that I always HAD to through things away. Otherwise I would need a whole room for my clothes now ;)
Those matching T's are adorable!
I get rid of stuff constantly! If I don't wear it in a year, it's likely I'll never wear it again. That's kind of my rule. :) I'm not someone who has a big walk in closet overflowing with clothes. I have just a normal closet and it's full, but when it starts getting too full is when I decide it's time to clean it out.
You look so cute in your casual polo and jeans!
I'm a stuff keeper. =/ My husband hates it and is always trying to throw out my stuff!!
Me me! I'm 5'4. And I have no polos. Or red for that matter. Haha. My policy is usually if I haven't worn it for 1 year, I get rid of it... But I do have those things that I kept around a little longer. And thank goodness, cause I'm wearing them now!

i am constantly going through my closet! ive been guilty of buying lots of cheaper items over the past couple of years that just dont hold up in the wash... and my style changes so often that the next time its 'in season'... i dont end up wearing half of the stuff anyways!
i now try go by the "if i havent worn it in a year... i am not likely to wear it again" so off to goodwill it goes (with exception of dresses or special occasion items that you only wear every so often). and now i am trying to make clothing more of an investment. buying only well constructed pieces and classics that will last more than one year before going out of style... with a few trendy, cheaper pieces.
throwing for me is a big deal -I usually do that only of the clothes isn't good (size, shape, colour etc). I feel like my clothes is something alive and throwing it or selling it is like selling people or killing people. I know i'm wierd!
I love this simple polo shirt - it looks lovely on you and matching shirt with your man is SOOO romantic!

I don't think it's too short at all! In the first picture, it elongates you a little. I like it! As long as you wear something a little longer underneath, I think it's fine. And when you get something from another country, I say, keep it as long as you can. Not everyone can say, "Yeah, I got these shoes in Paris!" or even something as simple as a polo shirt. Just think how much cooler you sound when people ask where you got your cute and simple polo shirt, and you get to say, "Oh this old thing? I got it in Thailand!" ;-)
i really wish i had a good answer for this one! i LOVE throwing stuff away because i too hate clutter and having crap that i never use filling up my closets. so that bleeds into my wardrobe, but there are so many times when i think, whatever happened to such-and-such item of clothing? would i really have thrown that out? it was so cute! and then i kick myself for being a stuff-a-phobe.
haha I totally agree with Anonymous, "and then I kick myself for being a stuff-a-phobe". and Rebecca with an R if you really want it, when I'm ready to part with it, I'll send it your way!
hahahaha! I could not agree with you more! I've saved all the "important things I cannot live without / cannot bear to give away" such as: 1st grade birthday party dress, first kiss shirt, and the shoes I was wearing when I met my boyfriend. I think we need to make a self help group....seriously...lets get on it!
I am terrible at getting rid of the 'sentimental' items. I still have the clothes from my husbands and I's first date! The idea of getting rid of them makes me cringe but I know I should!
My husband is a total stuffaphobe! If he could have a bare house with a couch, a table and chairs and a bed, he would. But then, he's also the one that loves buying stuff for the house--stuff we don't need. I have a harder time shopping and a harder time letting go.

Isn't it amazing how clothes can involve feelings and memories?
I would suggest that you take out your most favorite outfit. The one you love and wear the most.
Then remove your next favorite outfit from the closet, and your next. Start comparing clothes to your favorite outfit. How do they stand up? When is the last time you wore it? How many times have you worn it in the last year? Does it make you feel as beautiful and special as that first favorite outfit?
As you go long, some of your clothes won't match the strength of feeling for your favorite outfit, and it will have been a long time since you wore it.
Those will be the ones that you could probably easily part with. Because you, yourself, discovered that they don't match up (feeling wise) with your favorite outfits.
For emotional support, you could take a picture of them (don't put it on or you'll never be able to get rid of it, lol!) and then pass them on to someone who will enjoy them.
Then reward yourself and go shopping!!!!! Just because you liked something then doesn't mean you haven't changed a bit. Buy something more in keeping with the latest version of you! Have fun!
oh whit, i wish i could be of some help, but i'm a stuffaholic! i have the hardest time getting rid of stuff, mostly because i think i might use it or need it in the future! maybe i need to have you come help me clean out my house!! i think if you haven't worn it in over a year you are safe to get rid of it. but i'd be a hypocrit to say i could do the same thing, so good luck!
If you love it and it's working for you, keep it! My goal with clothes is to get rid of anything I don't LOVE and anything that's not that into me, either :).
Followed you here from WIWW! Love your blog concept & just became your newest follower.

I am a MAJOR stuffaphobe too. And I have a weird attachment to all my clothes and things. You never know when you'll wear something again! I can look at a piece of clothing and know where I bought it, when I bought it and how much it was. I guess you could call it a crazy gift :)
I am VERY under 5'7 and I WANT it! that shirt is adorbs, just like you! send it my way and I'll do a WIW post, lol! xoxo, ashley
Love the shirt, but also is that your sister on the right of the last photo?! If so...Lindsay was my sister's (ellie) roommate this last year and I just love her!
