Cankle Jeans

I've always been confused with the fact that we call straight-legged jeans "skinny jeans".  I always thought "skinny jeans" were the jeans that sat in the back of your closet for the day that you magically lost 5 lbs.  Then, when this "skinny jean" fad went viral, I finally figured out that skinny jeans are really just jeans that are tight from your saddlebags to your cankles.  But, I always felt there should be a better name.  I mean "skinny jeans" was already taken, wasn't it? Shouldn't they just be called something else....maybe, cankle jeans?

I'm not going to lie, it took me a while to jump on board with this fad.  This (slightly OCD) girl doesn't like clothes that are too tight in all the wrong places.  But, I finally jumped in.  And, apparently I have jumped in with both feet.  And I guess I am really excited about it, too.

Until today, I haven't worn skinny jeans with anything other than a long shirt.  And as you all know, I really like to live life on the edge.  I'm just crazy.  Today I actually TUCKED MY SHIRT into my skinny jeans.
Is that allowed?  Well, that is what you need to tell me.  I don't really know if it is allowed.  I just did it...cuz I'm wild.

And while we're all here talking about wild and crazy things.  Why don't we throw in another crazy question.  Do you like this outfit better with the flower or without?
Shirt: TJ Maxx Flower: Icing Kankle Jeans: TJ Maxx
Belt: Thrift Store Shoes: Target

Do you tuck shirts into skinny jeans?

PS- I'm still packing for my road trip I asked you about here.  Do  you have any other advice for me??

Tuck the shirt in, wear the flower and be happy in all your cankle jean glory! You look really cute :)

Tucked and flowered. Perfect mix of feminine and.... sorta masculine, if we're talking the type of guy who wears tight jeans and actually tucks his shirt in.

Yes to the jeans and yes to the flower! :) You look fab, lady.

debbiecutieface said...

of course it's allowed. Personally though, I think I'd like the look better without the shirt tucked in. But tucked in still looks good. And YES to the flower!

I like to mix it up and tuck in my shirts with skinny jeans. I also like the flower. The gingham print on this top is so cute!

First of all, I LOLed at your post title before even reading the post, and then i LOLed some more. The skinny jeans look great on you, as does the tucked in shirt, as does your awesome bun! And I'm digging the flower. :)

I have yet to try skinny (cankle) jeans so a huge high-5 to you - and you look great! Oh, and definitely with the flower!

I love your outfit with the big flower! I still think I'm too short to pull of skinny jeans so I haven't worn them out in public. Maybe someday!

L said...

You are brave, my friend! I still haven't gotten up the nerve to tuck shirts in, but then again, it may be because my skinnies are also high-waisted. Hmm. I do love the flower though. Tres sweet!

So cute! I like it better with the flower. It also took me a little while to jump on the skinny jeans bandwagon, but now I don't think I'm ever gonna jump off!

The whole outfit is great. If the jeans were higher waisted, tucking might not work as well, but with the rise of that jean it looks great! And I don't think I could personally ever pull off a flower, but I like it a lot on your outfit. I think it gives the whole outfit the extra oomph to take it to the next level.

With the flower, tucked in! So cute. Someone probably already mentioned this, but I go crazy on roadtrips if I fail to bring a pair of slip on shoes that I can get on real quick. I always keep them right in that compartment on the passenger door so that I don't lose them---frantically looking for shoes while trying to rush to a bathroom break is no fun.

Def tuck, with the flower!

I love it with the flower!! LOVE! Thoroughly enjoying reading this blog! XO!

I personally would never tuck it in, but only because I'm not that confident... love it on you! Like the flower. And I agree about the "skinny jeans" name. It makes it seem like you have to be skinny to wear them.

SoFashionistica said...

I like skinny jeans but you are right,I never did think about that!

muzikgenyus said...

I LOVE the flower! Don't ever take it off! I love the shirt tucked in! I LOVE those shoes. Every time you wear them, I say to myself, "Gosh! I just LOVE those shoes!!!" And I love that, in the post, you spelled cankle with a "c" but when you labeled where everything was purchased, you spelled kankle with a "k"... did anyone else catch that?

Jenn said...

I definitely like the outfit with the flower!! And the tucking-in is perfect with those skinny jeans. I didn't jump on the bandwagon either until later on and loved it, though I never bought the tight-tight jeans and only kept to the straighter leg jeans.

Mrs. C said...

Haha cankle jeans!! Lol!!! I am a big fan of the skinny jeans to be honest. I love the wear them with boots, flats..you name it! Love the tucked in shirt look! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!

Hahaha. That is hilarious. At first I spelled everything with a "k" and then my husband said, "The whole point of cankles is that it's a mix of calves and ankles- it should be a "c"...." Then I changed all of the kankles to cankles. But, I guess I missed some!

Anjelica said...

YES to the flower, it adds a little somthin somthin, and yes to the tucking in! I think more people need to! Tucking in is going to be a lost art one day!

Ana Paula said...

I do not tuck. My butt is ugly, I don't need to have flashing neon arrows pointing at it. LOL.

So... nope. I do not tuck. But I do love skinny jeans even when I'm not skinny.

the flower is very "fashion blogger" chic. the flower + the bun makes you look like a cute lil carrie bradshaw!

congrats on taking the fashion risk with the cankle jeans (haha). they look great on you!

I think you look great! Even with the shirt *gasp* tucked in. The flower is kitschy, but in a cute way. Plus, you will never fail with gingham.

I love the flower! Adds a nice pop of white to the shirt. As for tucking with skinnies...I've never done it, mostly because I bought mine TOO small and have no room to tuck. But this looks really nice and put-together! Kudos on pulling it off :)

Amy said...

Okay, I love the gingham shirt tucked into skinnies. It has been one of my favorite looks for a while. I like loose fitting things too, but sometimes tighter clothes can be more flattering!

P.S. I like the flower. It adds some pizazz.

Cute outfit - I really like the tucked in shirt! I think I like it better without the flower. You could add in a necklace instead. :)

You skinny jeans with the tucked in shirt look so great on you...make your legs look like they go on for miles!! I am thinking instead of the flower a chunky necklace.

I only wear skinny jeans, even though I have no beautiful feminine curves. skinny jeans is the only model of jeans that fits me nicely. and yes, i tuck my shirts in them sometimes :) I love this look! it's so pretty ^^ x

Love this. I pretty much always tuck my shirt into my skinny jeans. And belt them. And I definitely like it with the flower! :) Super cute.

Autumn said...

I don't tuck my shirts into skinny jeans, but I also have a very different build than you do. If I tuck in anything it makes me look even bustier.

I usually do a tunic with a belt when it comes to skinny jeans because I have such a short torso.

I think you look so amazing with that tucked in shirt. You've got a banging body, so rock it. I hate to be the odd man out, but I do not care for that flower pin. I think it looks very 2003 and makes your otherwise very stylish outfit look a bit outdated, just saying.
