Fiesta Dress=Work Dress?

I've spoken a lot recently about my sentimental attachment to some clothing items.... this dress is another one of those. My attachment to it is deep and I have no intention of EVER getting rid of it. However, as it currently stands, I only wear it on Cinco De Mayo and other times when it seems appropriate (like fiesta-ish occasions). I keep trying to tell my husband that since I am going to teach Kindergarten this year, I can totally get away with wearing strange things. yeah? no?
Dress: Inherited Jeans: F21

So whether or not I should keep this party frock is NOT the question, it will remain in my closet. The question is: if your child's Kindergarten teacher was wearing this, would you think she was:

a. kind of out of her mind
b. fun
c. you'd think nothing of it

and if you're thinking, "You shouldn't pair that orange dress with black stretch pants", oh those aren't stretch pants, my jeans are just that tight and the dark wash turned black in the shadow.  If you have a suggestion of what the fiesta dress could be bettered paired with, please share!

I'd think "fun!" and I'd be jealous that I wasn't wearing that outfit! ;)

I would definitely think "fun." Obviously it wouldn't be as appropriate if you worked in an office, but for teaching school, absolutely!

My other suggestion would be a skinny belt at the waist to create a little shape. Perhaps in turquoise...That might be cute too!

I am a teacher and I would totally wear this outfit. The dress is fantastic! I love how you added the colored heels to pull it all together.

Sincerely,

Julie

Super cute! I would wear it to work. I think a belt would also help make it more work appropriate too.

Love your shoes!

Totally fun! I love that dress! I agree with Abby that it would look really cute belted. And I love the shoes!!

I love the whole outfit. I think that it is recommended that teachers of younger grades wear colors and textures - it's like an educational experience for them! I love the shoes with that dress - you look awesome!

I vote B! I think it would be fun, but I wouldn't think it to be odd or out of place. I would think, "WOW! My kid's teacher has great style. Wonder if she wants to go shopping?" ha ha ha :) I would also wear this outfit on a date or to a festival!

i would think fun, but really i would think nothing of it. i think this dress is amazing, and i really don't think it needs to be saved for just fiesta-ish occasions. wear it often...it looks fab on you!

I love the dress--it's cute and different. I think I would style it with some kind of belt--mid-width, slightly high waisted. For some reason, I find belts give fun pieces a little credibility. Try it!

It totally works for the classroom! I would belt it with a long, thin brown braided belt wrap around the waistline twice and knotted. But your way is super cute!

Love the shoes!

Haha I love your fiesta dress! If I had a kid and that kid was in kindergarten, I would much rather he/she have a cool and stylish and creative teacher than a boring and frumpy teacher! So yeah, it's definitely a keeper! :)

Gah!! What an awesome dress to have in your closet. If you were my son's kindergarten teacher and dressed this way, I would be very excited, as it would be an indication of your level of creativity. How much creativity? Thhhiiiiiiiiiiiis much! How joyous. It's not crazy at all.
