One such cheesy endeavor I love participating in, is holiday-wear. If you remember, I mentioned here that elementary school teachers love to dress up according to holidays. And, as a former elementary school teacher, I still find myself wanting to wear a green uni-suit on St. Patrick's Day, and my doughnut pajamas on National Doughnut Day.
So, naturally, since it is the Fourth, I covered myself from head to toe in red, white, and blue.
But, with my latest career change, and the realization that I should probably stop acting like a child, I've wondered if I can still celebrate holidays in semi-costume.
Shirt: TJ Maxx Skirt: Target Belt: Thrift Store Shoes: TJ Maxx
(don't mind the hair rubber band around my forearm, cutting off my circulation)
I know I can wear holiday-wear when I'm teaching a bunch of kids, but can I in the real world? Is dressing according to holidays cheesy?

That's a super cute skirt. Love the pattern and the colours are wonderful, cheesy or not.

This outfit is soooo cute! I love to dress according to the holidays - even if I am not a teacher (but I was going to be, does that count?) I haven't been so bold yet as to print mix a stripe and a dot, but I have done a paisley and a pinstripe!
Dressing according to the holidays is a little cheesy, but isn't it great? Don't you think you make people smile when you're out and about when you're in red and green for Christmastime (but not in a Christmas sweater!) ;)
I love love love that skirt! It looks perfect with the stripes.

Oh, oh, oh, I adore that skirt!! I like to dressy cheesy for holidays too. =) Ugly christmas sweater day at the office is my absolute favorite day! lol
I'm going to say it again, I just love that skirt! You look gorgeous!
I love dressing for holidays! Especially this time of year - you can dress like a firecracker and no one thinks you're crazy, just patriotic!
you look adorable, I like the colors especially the red belt. Happy hols!

i don't even consider that dressing according to holidays because you don't have a bedazzled vest on. i think it's a fun way to be red, white, and blue without being cheesy. plus i love the shoes!
As long as it's actually a cute outfit (which this is!), then cheesy is just fine with me :)
I think my rule of thumb would be that if you'd wear the outfit on another day of the year, it's totally fine. As for this outfit, I think it would be just as cute on August 24th as July 4th, so it's a go!
well, i guess it runs in the family! we all have our red white and blue on today, although i don't look as cute as you!! i love your outfit and think you could wear it year round!
Very fourth of July outfit....I love it! Happy 4th of July!
Super cute! I think cheesy fourth of july outfits are the most acceptable of cheesy holiday outfits! xx
I think it works. Not cheesy at all.

one of my favorite outfits! and i nearly spit out my drink when i read about the rubber band cutting the circulation off your arm, LOL! love how you write, and you are super hot!
I think you look super-cute! I like teachers who are energetic about the day - it rubs off on the students, no matter how old or small!
I say yes you can dress for holidays in the "real" world, especially when it is done as chic-ly as this! I LOVE the pattern-mixing going on here! So fabulous!
I am a teacher and I say you look fantastic. This is a terrific outft for wearing any day.
Sincerely,
Julie
not cheesy in the slightest
Adorable.
YOu look so cute! I think the 4th is a day to go all out- even if it means cheesy- but you don't look cheesy at all. Just super stylish!
Bring on the cheese!! I love it! You look super cute and I love the pattern on your skirt. :)
I love dressing up for holidays too, so we can be cheesy together. Cool? Cool.
OH mah gash I love this. No its totally not cheesy---I do it every year <3 Everything's an excuse for fashion!
You are precious.

Love your outfit! It's like a sophisticated take on holiday dressing; not cheesy at all. :)
Dressing for the holidays can be cheesy, but you definitely scored classy instead! I'm a teacher and I dress for the holidays, though I hope with class as well!
You TOTALLY can. I did. And, I may have made my husband as well. Is that lame? AND it may be because I'm a Kindergarten teacher :)

if dressing in red white & blue is cheesy i don't want to be right!
this is adorable.
i taught preschool for 10 yrs. on st. patrick's day i would wear a green crayola crayon costume. once a mother asked me why i was wearing it, i responded your suppose to wear green on st. pat's day, how much more green can one get?!?
I love this outfit and I don't think it looks like obvious holiday themed wear. Now, if it was covered in stars and stripes, that would be different.
I love love love this outfit - nothing cheesy about it! ;)
cute outfit!
