READER SUBMISSION

One thing that is great about getting married (besides getting a fabulous husband) is you get to double your friends! You have your friends, then you get all of your husband's friends, too.  Our reader submission today is actually my husband's best friend's wife.  Sara, from Tell, Love, and Chocolate is one of those women you wish could be your best friend, she's stunningly beautiful, super talented, and probably the nicest person I've ever met.  Here's Sara! (ps- you have to go see her most recent post on no-heat curls.  absolutely genius.)

Hello duplex, my name is Sara, nice to meet you all!  Well awhile ago I went on a very long trip with my husband...and while we traveled I bought a few things...bowls from Turkey, a bag from Vietnam, chocolate from Sweden (or chocolate from everywhere else we went, it didn't matter to me) and many other things.   Among these trinkets and souvenirs I accumulated this dress.  I bought it in Bali for only $5, put a belt around it, and it soon became my favorite thing to wear.  I trekked through the rest of Asia with this little number.

NOW I am back in the states.  And since I am not hugging baby elephants, is this dress still cute?  I was actually really excited to wear it when I got home, but for some reason it has yet to leave my closet.

(sorry, excuse the wrinkles....like I said its been in the closet for a while!)

(here is a close up, so you can really see the pattern)

So I need some opinions...should I keep the dress around for costume purposes only, or should it make its first appearance here in the states?

Dress: Indonesia Belt: Anthropologie

This dress is gorgeous! Definitely keep it and wear it.

How about adding a crocheted vest, or a red or yellow belt? You could also put a cardi or top over it to make it look like a maxi skirt? Just some ideas flying out here :)

the dress is most definitely still cute, even if you are not hugging baby elephants.

Hello there!! I absolutely love the dress!!!
I have a very similar dress and I live in it!! I wear it with a jean jacket on my summer weekends!

Take care!!

i love this dress! i like the way you styled it but everything does look kind of same-y, like all the pieces could have come from a market in Bali. i think shaking it up with a different belt and shoes could be really fun.

My goodness, you are GORGEOUS!!! I say wear the dress. It's super cute and your belt and sandals are perfect together and with the dress. I love the pattern, love the colors, and love the cut of the dress. Love! Love! Love! AND... who doesn't LOVE when people ask, "Hey that's cute! Where'd you get that little number?" and you get to say, "Oh this old thing? I got it in Bali!" See, it's a keeper any way you look at it.

P.S. You have GORGEOUS hair!!! =)

That is such a gorgeous dress! And great accessories! Wait... is that a REAL baby elephant that you got to hug?! I have to go to Bali! Hehe :) But I love, love, love your dress. It looks like something that you could buy here from an expensive designer, but it's even cooler that it is authentic (and was so inexpensive!)

Have a great day!

Absolutely keep. You look amazing. I think you can mix it up by putting shirts over the top and belting them or tying them to make your dress look like a skirt, using different colored belts like red or yellow, or wearing a cropped jacket. If you donated it, you would cause all of us to fight for it at Goodwill. You don't want to be responsible for a someone getting a black eye, do you? :)

Oh my goodness! That dress is fabulous! DO NOT get rid of it or just keep it for a costume. Plus, every time you wear it you will be able to think of your trip. You are like a living memory! That is to precious to give up.
