Is "cuff" a verb or a noun?

Good news, everyone.  I am currently blogging from the couch in my living room.  That may not seem out of the ordinary to you.... but it is for me.  When my husband and I moved to Knoxville last year we decided we could do without the internet in our home.  With both of us in school, we thought we could use the extra dough.  But yesterday, we finally caved and WE BOUGHT THE INTERNET.  I love it.  I really love it.  I have the world at my fingertips- from ANY square inch in my apartment.

So a few weeks ago you guys mentioned my jean cuffs were a little off.  Since then, I have been wondering  when to cuff and when not to cuff.  Take this outfit for example...would you cuff? Is cuff even a real word?

no cuff
...or, cuff

I think cuff is both a verb and a noun.
You can cuff something.
OR
Pants or shirts have a cuff.

Either one looks cute! I love to cuff - and yes, I believe it's a word :)

Works either way and depends on the vibe you're going for! I am no cuff (noun) authority, but do think cuffing (verb) is a more relaxed look and lends a touch of interest to any basic outfit. Cufftastic! (not a real word)

Either way is fine, and I agree with Van!

My linguistics teacher said that if you say a word and people understand you, then you have yourself a word. (Maybe not a grammatically correct word, but a new addition to the lexicon.) And for the record - I like 'em cuffed. :)

love the outfit! i vote cuff!

Even with my stubby little legs, I like cuffing. =) Both ways are cute, but I think the cuffed look adds a little bit more of a relaxed vibe to the outfit.

I love your bright yellow cardi!

I would cuff, but make the cuffs skinnier. Cuffing (lol that sounds weird) makes an outfit look a bit rough around the edges/fun, imho.

Emma said...

Definitely like it better cuffed :)

I like the cuffed look. It's always fun and playful. The only time I wouldn't cuff is when you're trying to dress up jeans.

Hi there! I am so happy you have internet!! That's great!

I think this outfit is so cute. I also love the yellow cardigan. It's funny because this morning, out of the blue, I said I need a mustard yellow cardigan! But anyway, I normally don't cuff my pants, but I think you look great with them cuffed, it really goes with the outfit, the light blue of the cuff does a little something extra and looks great with the stripped top. I think it looks unique!

Take care,

Kim

I LOVE the cuffs. I'd say "cuff." and you know, the more you say "cuff" the more it sounds wrong....cuff....

yay for internet!! :) i say no cuff in this situation(with the strappy wedge). i would wear a cuff with a simple pump heel or with flats.

I like it with the cuff!

Lovely outfit, I love the yellow cardi.
I like both cuff and no cuff. No cuff is a little dressier, I guess it depends on the occasion.

I always cuff if I'm trying to look more casual, don't cuff if its supposed to be dressy--this outfit is adorable!

I used to be a no-cuff person, but lately I'm learning to appreciate it. I think for this outfit, cuffing your pants is cute! I also think the comments about the post from a few weeks ago were mostly regarding the cuff being so wide. You could play with the cuff width by rolling several times instead of just once and keeping the width to just a couple inches. Just ideas to play with! Your outfit is cute, Monica :)

I'm not crazy about the cuff with the shoes you have on... I think the cuff would look better with some simple flats.

Cuffed! Unless the pants were tighter on the ankle like a cigarette pant then no cuff :)

Both a verb and a noun.

And when I buy dark denim in anything but flare or boot, I always buy it long enough to cuff. I love the look, and I don't care if it makes my legs look short or any other nonsense.

You should ALWAYS cuff. Love the cuffs. Cuff away!

As a very short girl, I am a major proponent of the cuff! I think you look great either way, though! :)

i like them cuffed with this outfit. my question is, how are your pants the same length cuffed and not cuffed?

oomph. said...

cuff is definitely a word in my book. your outfit is cute both ways, depending of the vibe you are going for. the pants are the perfect length to leave down, so if you do cuff, i'd go shorter! for myself i always think cuffed + cropped :)

love the bright yellow sweater!

I certainly enjoy cuffing from time to time, but in this look I like it not cuffed. It looks less busy?

I love your blog, the idea behind it is great!
