Where's My Torso?

Recently I was video chatting with my sister and she said, "Sometimes when I wear a high-waisted skirt and a shirt with ruffles I feel like it goes, ruffles and boobs and then my waist, like where'd my body go?" I put this outfit on and knew just what she was talking about.

I think I usually add a belt so it kind of breaks up the boob-ruffle/waist thing.

skirt: H&M shirt: Banana Republic shoes: TJ Maxx
So my question is, should I add a belt? If so, what color? Or do you think it is okay without one?

This is really cute! I think it works with or without a belt. If you added a belt how about red or yellow? It would play off the pink and gray a little for a pop of color!

I think it looks greats even without one! If you want to add a chunky belt that would look nice too, but sometimes I think people add belts with everything and it become TO much!

I like it without a belt but agree if you want one, maybe a yellow would be good. It would add a great pop of color.

You know, I actually am a fan of the boob ruffle waist look. I think it can be slimming, or at least that's what I tell myself when I go for this look :) I say leave off the belt.

I actually love this look without a belt. It's such a pretty and feminine look.

I honestly think it looks OK without one. However! If you go too much higher, then yes! Otherwise, no torso.

The shoes add a nice touch of chic--and your legs look great, Whitney! I think your outfit looks cute as is, but if you wanted to add a belt, what about a skinny leopard print?

I think it's great either way! I love this look!

I think you could add a belt if you wanted (red would be adorable) BUT I think this outfit is perfect just the way it is. I love the classic look of it.

I would love to answer your question. I just try to avoid this problem by not wearing a busy shirt on top when wearing a high-waisted skirt. I like a basic tee or tank with some pretty earrings or a statement necklace.

I love it without a belt, or with a belt. A mustard yellow belt would look great. So would a navy one. You look great!

I think you look great, but a brightly colored belt (like everyone else said) would be adorable as well. I also like Lindsay's suggestion of keeping the shirt more simple -- I usually do that when wearing A-line skirts. You really do look great, though. :)

I think it looks perfectly okay without one, but you could also add one if you felt like spicing things up.

i actually like the look the way it is, but a belt would be really cute too. i think i'd just go brown. i kind of like the softness of the whole look and i'd like to keep it that way.

I think you can go without a belt. I see the issue, but I don't really think it is one. I'm not bothered by the look, I like it. But if you wanna add a belt, I'd say white or black.

I think your outfit looks great without a belt - really pretty and simple. If you were to wear one, grey or white would work well I think. :)

I think it looks good without a belt, although I love wearing belts so I would probably add one on. Maybe a wide one in a fun color

I think this outfit looks great without a belt. But because its such a neutral outfit I think so many colors would work. My first thought was yellow.

I think just like having dessert, sometimes it's okay to not have a waist! :)

I think you can wear it both ways but I love a good belt. :) Super cute outfit!

I think you can add a brighter belt like hot pink to break it up. Since I'm top heavy I usually need a lot of separation in that department...lol

It's still a very cute outfit!!

I think it looks great with or without -- it would just be a different outfit with it, you know? Right now it looks simple and classic, with a belt there woudld be an added element.

I think you have plenty of curves in this outfit and it doesn't look like you're missing a torso. That said, if you wanted a belt, I think navy would look so sleek!

You look so good, I love it! I also love belts too, so both ways would be great I think. :)

That outfit is perfect. Love it without the belt but it would be great with one too. High waisted skirts are so flattering.

I like the look. I know what you're talking about, but I don't see it with this outfit.I think if the top were more fitted and more ruffled, then yes. But I think it really looks awesome as is.
