It is only fourth week of school and I'm already running out of lunch ideas. My school is a Nut Free school, which means I can't pack peanut butter and jelly which has always been my go to (although I have been packing sunflower seed butter and jelly sandwiches, have you guys had that stuff? It's pretty good). Anyway, I've eaten the turkey sandwich pictured below for the past two weeks and I'm about burned out on it.
I should be a hand model, look at those George Costanza hands.
What do you eat for lunch? What is your go-to? I am in serious need of some ideas.

I wish I had pretty hands like that. Mine are so tiny and stubby. :P I know what you mean about getting sick of the same old thing. Something that helps me is when I buy some fruit or veggies or something I cut it all up and separate it into baggies so they're ready to go. :)
I would die without my pb&J!!! Have a fabulous day darling and if you get a chance, make sure to enter my 2 year blogoversary giveaway!

What about a salad with grilled chicken?
Leftovers. Aaaaaalways the leftovers. Saves me having to think up and make a second meal at night or get up earlier in the morning (as if!!). It also makes the grocery list shorter as I make fewer different meals.
You've got to love a good Seinfeld reference! ;)
Do you have a kitchen and/or refrigerator to store things? My go to healthy lunch is tuna, pecan and sliced strawberries over romaine lettuce w/ light italian dressing. Seriously, it's amazing! Or a cucumber sandwich (sometimes w/ tomatoes & sprouts) w/ cream cheese or ranch dressing on honey wheat bread. Yum, yum, yum! And now I'm hungry. =)
I've really gotten into packing leftovers from the night before. I try to get it separated and put in a container the night before.
Also, salads are great if you have any time at all to do a little prep on Sunday nights. Cut up some veggies, and buy prewashed bagged spring mix or spinach so you can just grab handfuls of things and go. Add some cheese and diced lunch meat for protein.
Hummus with veggies and pitas is also a good lunch.
@Tiffany I love cucumber sandwiches! Try mixing a little pesto into the cream cheese. It's amazing.
Cold, hearty salads: chicken curry, tuna, potato... Pizza slices, quiche/savory tart, leftovers. A Nut-free ban seems absolutely un-American!
That is one gorgeous looking sandwich! I usually make a batch of something on the weekend for the week's lunches--soups, chili, curry, etc. Or a salad with some protein. For more sandwich ideas, you could do chicken w/ pesto and tomato, tuna, chicken salad, mozzarella/tomato/basil/balsamic vinegar, or pastrami.
Nut free? Chickee can't visit?
Hot pockets or cold pizza used to be your staple diet breakfast, lunch, and dinner...turkey on wheat must be another Bay Area side affect.
Every week I make a big batch of soup and package it in little Gladwear containers- pack some crusty bread to go with and it's wonderful. Especially with fall coming :) My favorites that last awhile in the fridge are

At first when I saw Richard's comment, I thought he was saying Chickee can't come because she loves nuts too much. Then the thought occurred to me that he was saying she can't come because she IS a nut! Hahaha
Try Tasty Bite's Madras Lentils or Bombay Potatoes and eat them with some brown rice. You can get them in 4 packs at Costco, but they're a little pricey compared to something like a can of soup.
PS - are you sure there aren't any nuts in your bread? That looks like some pretty hardy stuff.
PPS - Is it Hardy or Hearty?
a nut free school?! i've never heard of such a thing! I would bring a lunch box with some hummus and veggies and probably a salad. they make those cool salad containers with a separate place for the dressing so that things dont get soggy.
I am a teacher too! First grade. I bought a fridge for my classroom then I kept it stocked with a variety of stuff like my fridge at home... yogurt, sandwhich stuff, diet coke, fruit, veggies, even creamies for the freezer. This way when I needed a snack I didn't raid the candy drawer in the faculty room. Costco has great deals on mini fridges!
I need to start bringing a lunch...I eat out everyday and going out doesn't sound good/fun anymore. :( But I would say leftovers- easy to heat up, fast to pack the night before, and gets you to cook dinner the night before!
a nut free school? I've never heard that in my life haha! I'm definitely a peanut butter and jelly girl so I can't say I'd be a happy camper...
school lunches are hard
my poor sons had the same sad lunch for 12 years of school.

When I was a vegetarian, I ate avocado, sprout, and mozzarella wraps. Very tasty. I also like ordering little snack packs from Fresh Direct.
My school is nut-free as well! Are you able to microwave? You could always do a burger (which can still be tasty cold!) or another variation of your classic cold sandy. Salads (with the dressing on the side so it doesn't get soggy!) or soups... A good ol' Lean Cuisine every once in awhile never hurt anyone! ;) Good luck, lady!
I usually make a big dinner so that the hubs and I can have leftovers for lunch. And when I don't make dinner...we starve the next day!

I LOVE quick lunches too! I have salad with some chicken or turkey. I also plan my supper and make lots of it and then take leftover as lunch next day!

This may sound strange, but I love cutting up a fresh tomato and mixing it with cottage cheese and a little black pepper-really good and really easy. Also costco has morningstar veggie sausage patties that take 45 sec to microwave. I eat them along with a granola bar and some fruit.
That sandwich looks so delicious! Haha my lunch is the typical Asian lunch, it's rice with some meat or veggies :)
Cheers,

A Single Girl's Musings
My son's school is nut free as well, as are most schools in Canada now.
For lunches at work - this is what I rotate:
english muffins, toasted with butter and add a couple of slices of cheddar cheese, and tomato. Just cut up the cheese and tomato at home and then add once toasted.
Salad - try to think of different ways - like with strawberries, spinach and poppy seed dressing
Sometimes, just a bowl of tostitos with salsa!
Veggies and hummus
cheese, crackers and polish sausage cut up.
um....WHAT?! that is the best darn looking sandwich I've seen....YUMMY!

I make soup or some sort of easily portable large pot of food on a Sunday or Monday and then take it for lunches all week. I tried the sandwich thing but I guess I found cold lunches all the time a bit depressing. I don't mind having the same thing for lunch everyday. But leftovers for dinner? No thank you!
I switch it up based on which deli meat is on sale that particular day. Its pretty much an art form. I also pack leftovers once a week to break up the blah.
