I imagine that when most 9 year-old girls are thinking of Halloween costumes they think of things like princesses, fairies, vampires, and such. But somehow Monica and I at age 9 decided to be a grandma and a grandpa for Halloween. Probably the best decision I made as a kid.
This year I am at a lost though. One of the major benefits of my job is that Halloween is off the hook it's so fun. AND I get to dress up at work. There are four of us Kindergarten teachers and we want to dress up all together. Do you know of any costumes that four people could do?!?!?! I need as many suggestions as possible. Also, do you know what you're going to be? Do you dress up?

I think Maddie and I have found our costumes thanks to you.
(So, yeah, maybe most people have coordinating costumes with their boyfriends/husbands at my age. But what else are best friends for?)
I hope my future kids do cool things like this.

Be the Golden Girls!
I LOVE Halloween! These ideas came to mind, but may or may not be appropriate for Kindergarten teachers:
KISS, South Park, Harry Potter
P.S. You and Monica look adorable in that photo. Great costumes.
Sorry to Hijack the comments. I forgot to add my all time favorite: Wizard of OZ!!
First, that might be one of the best costumes I've ever seen. I actually thought that was the inspiration photo, not the end result!
Second, I once saw four girls at a Halloween party in college dress as the four Fanta flavors. It was fun and easy, since they all made their own costumes!
The three blind mice and the farmers wife. The mice dress up as mice and wear dark glasses, a walking stick, and half a tail. The farmers wife has the rest of the tails on her belt and a carving knife. I did it with my three kids and it was hilarious.
How about The Wiggles -- black pants, primary colored shirts. Should be a hit with the kindergarten set.
Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Three Little Pigs and Big Bad Wolf, 4 different versions of OLIVIA. I am sure I could think of more if I had more time. I might come back. ;)
I used to teach kinder and LOVED it!! Now I stay home with my babies.
Be fanta girls!
Well first of all you two look AWESOME! If you came to my door on trick or treat night, you would have won the best costumes hands down!
I agree with someone above, you should be the Golden Girls! You could also do Mario, Luigi, the Princess and the mushroom. The little kiddos would know who that is.
different colored crayons? I saw a group dressed like that one year. My friends and I also dressed like legends of the hidden temple but I'm thinking the kiddos might not get that one.
Ninja turtles
Star Wars. Salt/Pepper/Cumin/Paprika. Care Bears. Dinosaurs. Cowboys and Indians. Toy Story characters.
LOVE your 9 year old costumes. Hilarious!
Yeh-heh-hesssssss! I was an old lady for Halloween in 5th grade. I'm thinking of reprising that costume this year.
BF and I were going to do Wayne and Garth from Wayne's World, but we decided to go with China man and geisha girl. Previously I've done leather and lace (with a friend), Karl Lagerfeld, fashion police, and a bird woman (think The Birds movie).
Angry Birds!
I just laughed out loud. That is awesome. Trying to find something as well! We are hosting a Old- Young Hollywood Party!
HAHA a grandma and a grandpa. Hilarious.
that picture is hilarious! And maybe characters from books the kids read in class? That way they'll know who you are! Dr Suess characters, jack and jill, crayons, harry potter, angry birds, stuff like that!

wizard of oz!
That is AWESOME!! We are being the characters from the TV show Phineus and Ferb, Oldest son 8 year old is going to be Ferb, 5 yr old son is going to be Phineus, 15 month old son is going to be Perry the Platapus, I am going to be Candace and hubby is going to be Dr. Doofinschmirtz.
You guys could be Disney Princesses, Barbies, m&m's, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad.
OMG that is the most amazing Halloween costume ever. I'm going as a teacher, since I already have the costume haha. I think I'll dress up as a teacher tomorrow too. No, I have a modest Greek Goddess costume that I've been reuing for years because its the only thing that doesn't bare too much for frigid Halloweens and was wallet-friendly.
I say go for the Golden Girls.
this is the best thing i think i have ever seen. you both are just too perfect!!

hahaha! You guys are awesome!! I can't think of any costumes in groups of 4... only 3 and 5. :P
omg i totally double vote on the golden girls idea. SO CUTE!
this picture literally made me die. of laughter that is :)

That is the greatest picture ever. What fantastic outfits. It's going to be hard to top that one :)
Haha! LOVE that you two were a cute old grandma and grandpa. You really looked the part! ;)
You could be the four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! but maybe the little elementary schoolers wouldn't know who they are ;) Or you could be a group of superheros (my three roommates and I were superman, spiderman, the hulk, and batman one year). Or you could be 4 Disney Princesses :) Good luck with deciding! I LOVE halloween and dressing up is my favorite part. I'm still deciding what my hubs, little boy, and I should be :)

I'm new here but thought I'd make a suggestion since my husband's shift members (he's a cop) always like to do group costumes. What about Hungry Hungry Hippos? Wear monocromatic colors depending on which one you are (purple, blue, etc). Then buy a matching colored baseball-style cap from the craft store and some white foam paper or sheets of felt to make "teeth" and eyes that can be glued to the cap. Last, hot glue mini marshmallows to your costume to serve as the little white balls from the game. Love the grandma and grandpa outfits! Might have to try this next year!!
We all dressed up as princesses one year. Its not original, but it was fun for us and the kids enjoyed it too.
Oh my. That picture is priceless!!
Oh boy do I. I dress every year. So fun. Last year I was Tippi Hedren of Alfred Hitchcock's horror classic "The Birds". You are lucky to have the opportunity to dress for Halloween at work. Hysterical photo. Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo
I have a "baker" costume you could borrow :) maybe the butcher, the baker, the candlestick-makers?
One of my favorite teacher costumes was "the tooth fairy" this teacher wore white sweats, white long sleeve t-shirt, a white tu tu, a crown, a wand and a large tooth necklace.

I know I've said this before, but... you two are my absolute favorites!!! =) Only the two prettiest, most fashionably awesome girls would dress up as something so... well... unpretty. LoL! I love it when girls dress up in creative costumes rather than slutty costumes. People who say that "Halloween is a day for wearing lingerie and getting away with it" are really just stupid and trashy.
Would love to have "Grandpa" and "Grandma" show up at my door on Halloween. How cute!!
Some group costumes that I recall seeing at school that were cute....Crayons; playing cards with each person a card from a different suit; Charlie's Angels & Bosley--and of course you have to strike the pose; the ladies from Deal/No Deal and their numbered briefcases.
