The dress code also outlawed shorts after a certain day of the year--when it started getting cold.
This rule always confused me. First of all Fresno, California did NOT get very cold. Secondly, if we had a rule against wearing shorts, shouldn't we have also had a rule against wearing pants after a certain day? Especially when it would get up to 113 degrees once in a while.
Although I don't have to adhere to a district policy, I do wonder if there are some fashion faux pas with clothing and weather.
Let's take scarves for instance.

Should scarf-wearing when it is in the low 70s be a fashion faux pas? I mean...my neck isn't exactly freezing cold and in need of layers.

I live in Paris. While people here do tend to overdress for the weather (they're all obsessed with this famous "draft" which can appear anywhere the air moves in the slightest and gives anyone in a 50 meter radius a so-called cold), a scarf works any time, any place, and, just as you are exhibiting here, with any pattern or color-combo.
Sleeves, snow, tanks, or on the beach, rock the scarf.
I always wear scarves ha-ha I've worn hugh (albeit light) scarves in the height of Summer. I think banning certain items of clothing is slightly ridiculous but then for a school or an office I suppose it's more understandable. Beautiful cardigan here :) and scarf of course - love the bright colour :)

I think scarves work all the time! I love this outfit, the scarf adds a really lovely pop of color and pattern :)
Scarves can work all year long. You just have to purchase the right scarf with the right fabric for the season. You look adorable!
I also wear scarves year round. Clearly not a full knit scarf in the dead of summer... but yes, scarves are a universally accepted year long accessory.
When it got "cold" in Santa Barbara the coeds would put on a big scarf, winter hat, and ugg boots over the mini skirt and tank top.
They would also bike on the wrong side of the road while inebriated so not I'm not sure that they were really thinking through their actions.

I don't think scarves are ever a fashion faux pas. This one is lovely on you. The color combo is great!
Also scarves are very useful when it is still warm out but air conditioned inside every retail building.

I live in fresno right now and I know exactly what you mean about it not getting very cold, just last night i was outside in a tank top and sandals at about 9pm and it wasnt the least bit cold! Schools around here have the silliest rules. But to answer your question yes! I think You can totally wear scarves with short sleeves :)
I was actually wondering that myself.I have a scarf that looks like it is the same material..and I sat and stared at myself in the mirror for awhile with the same predicament.I'll have to read your comments to see what to do:)
i actually love scarves with short sleeves... mainly because im in georgia, and it takes a while to get real cold here as well- so its a good way to look "fall-ish" without burning up!

I love scarves! I would wear them all the time...even in heat if I could stand it! If I could handle it...I'd wear them and I think its okay to do so!

Scarves can be added to any outfit! Short sleeves, long sleeves, whatever. I love how you mixed the floral scarf with a striped shirt.
I often wore a scarf during summer to cover up my shoulders so I wouldn't get a sunburn. You can wear these kind of light cotton scarf throught the year ^^ Just keep the warm big wool ones for the snowy days :) x

i was really confused by the summer scarf trend that popped up a few years ago when everyone was wearing scarfs with their tanks. i love accessorizing but this trend just seemed weird to me. i actually really like what you're doing here though. you have other layers and it looks very fall-y. totally appropriate.
yes i think you could wear a scarf with that outfit, as long as its kinda brisk outside! and no blood stained clothes?!?!? did children often come to school with blood stained clothes before the rule was intact?!

You are totally good! It is all in the texture of the scarf. If it is lightweight, breezy, etc. it is for warmer weather...and heavier textures for winter.
I feel fashion experiment is rarely, if ever a "need." Otherwise we'd all be wearing generic, colorless sacks.

Yes you can wear them together, especially since the scarf looks light and the print and colors don't say winter to me.
I am wearing a scarf with short sleeves RIGHT. NOW. So I am a full supporter of the short sleeve/scarf combo. And aside, some scarves aren't made specifically for warmth, they're more for style. I say wear it!
No way! I have separate scarf wardrobes. I have summer scarves, fall/spring scarves, and winter scarves depending on how heavy they are.
Well, my personal opinion is Yes and Yes. Lucky you that scarf weather can be in the 70's. Here in TX, I desperately want to wear mine, but it's still in the 90's and just too dang hot for my neck!

Cute! How did you survive in that school? That is just crazy. Girl, you go ahead and wear scarves whenever you want, unless they're making you sweat and you might pass out from heat exhaustion. :)
I think it totally works. The only time that scarves are off-limits is when it's just too hot for your neck. As long as you're comfortable, then wear scarves all day, every day.

Okay, first of all, CUSD's dress code was RIDICULOUS! My favorite ridiculous rule was how the men had to be clean-shaven. Seriously??? It's not like Clovis was BYU or something. Like... WHAT?!?! Anyway, I think because your scarf is light and more a fashion statement than a way to keep your neck warm, you are totally fine. However, if you start wearing sleeveless turtle necks, I might have to send professional help! That is just an oxymoron!!!
PS- sometimes I wear super warm scarves and coats and gloves and hats... with flip-flops. I know, I know... I'm nuts! But I don't like to wear shoes. My feet sometimes get claustrophobic. :-/

I agree! Scarves can be worn anytime, I've even seen people wear scarves over tank tops and it looks adorable! I think of scarves as jewelry, it's just like a big fluffy necklace!
