I'm Your Venus

A little over 3 weeks ago, I had a birthday.  Most of my gifts were food related-- but I did receive one gift that was not food.

The Venus.

Apparently my husband thinks I need to be shaving my legs more.  Well, I think he actually feels bad for me because every time I come out of the shower I have blood running down my legs from my crappy razor.  I always just buy those super cheap disposable razors.  They cut my flesh but they don't even really shave my legs.  I can't remember the last time I had smooth legs.

My thoughtful husband decided I should have a nice razor.  But, I have had this Venus package sitting on my dresser for the past 3 weeks debating if I should keep it.  If I am going to spend money on a real razor, I want it to be a good one.  Then it occurred to me-  I should just ask the Duplex!

Do you have a favorite razor that gets your legs nice and smooth? Should I keep the Venus? Is there something better?

Run, don't walk, to wherever that razor was purchased and exchange it for the male equivalent! Male razors are so, so far superior to female razors. More blades. I'm never going back.

I totally agree with using men's razors. Just get the 3 blade disposable ones. They will leave your legs ridiculously smooth! You'll love it!

I agree with the use of Men's BUT Venus is all I use (because I always forget to buy a men's razor when I go... i just go to the girls) Anyway I always use Venus (usually venus embrace) and I don't even use shaving cream.... i've never once cut myself. *knock on wood*

I agree- men's razors give you the closest, smoothest shave. Personally i use the intuition (the kind with soap attached to it)... Its nice bc I don't have anywhere to sit in my shower to lather up the shaving cream and all yhat. and it's so quick and I've never gotten cut with it!

Yep, men's razors are the best. For girly razors us the Intuition.

actually i use disposable razors but the more expensive kind with more blades - bic soleil. i think real razors get gross in the shower eventually and i like being able to just throw these out.

i also love the razor with the bar of soap attached. they make legs SO smooth but the soap bars are expensive-o and never last very long.

I use the Venus and I love it. The best is to use the Venus handle, with the matching men's blades. I find that men's handles tend to be harder to maneuver around my knees and they are more slippery. The Venus handles has a thumb groove so it's easier for me to use it around curvy areas.

I used to use the venus but I didn't think it worked that great. Then I started using my husbands Gillette Mach 3 and I would never go back to anything else. My legs have never been so smooth and I haven't had razor burn since I started using it. My poor husband has lost his razor to me. He is okay with using disposable razors though so that's what I buy for him. Another tip for you, I use conditioner as a shaving cream. It is a lot cheaper and it works great.

I use mens razors too and they work like a MIRACLE. Buy a nice men's razor. It will change your life.

I like the venus, and that's what I use, but I like the pink refills rather then the blue ones that your razor came with. I don't even have to use shaving cream and I have NEVER cut myself. I know that sounds bizarre, but it's true. http://www.gillettevenus.com/en_US/products/refillables/spa_breeze/index.jsp

Well, a Venus isn't THAT much. So it won't really break the bank to keep it and get a nicer one... Right? (like I should talk. I buy the cheap disposable kind too. Haha!)

I have never commented...but I have been reading for quite a while (yes...one of those bloggy stalkers). :) I must say that I am commenting because of my own recent razor debacle.

I must agree that mens razors work SOOO much better than female razors. I steal my hub's Gilette Fusion all.the.time. (usually against his wishes).

If I use a girl razor I use a Venus. I abhor the Intuition. I noticed a couple people here love it. I must have been using it wrong because I NEVER got a close shave with it...not even once.

So I say keep that one....or return it for a mens razor (or use your hubs first and see if you like it). :)

The Venus cut my legs really badly. I found these disposables and have never looked back: Noxzema Super Smooth Triple Blade Shavers. I shave in the shower with just running water and my legs are super smooth without cuts or irritation. They are really inexpensive and you can often get coupons in the Sunday paper.

Keep the Venus! It's my favorite! ~ Andi

I use the Venus and I like it. Way better than a disposable. However, I think I may try a men's razor now...

This is hilarious. My birthday is around the corner and I would actually love it if I got a venus. I secretly steal my husband's razor every time I shave my legs. Poor guy.

Ha, I'm so glad to see everyone likes men's razors, too! I use a Mach 3. Think about it-- they're shaving their faces, so those razors are designed for very sensitive skin.

Venus Sensitive disposables. They are the exact same razor blade as the Venus but much cheaper and you can buy a pack at Costco (and they are on the coupons this week)! I know you love Costco!

I love the Venus and use it, have for years...but now I think I might have to try a men's razor!

cheap razors are so bad for your legs, dont do it!! and there is nothing wrong with Venus, i use it all the time, and at $8 a pop its not a big deal. And yeah, mens razors work well too, but i really dont notice a difference between the 2. i switch back and forth between venus and a mens mach 3. keep it!

Keep it. Use it. Love it.

I have used it for quite a while since I was like 16 or 17. I have never used a mans razor. I might have to give it a try one of these days. I also can usually get my Venus (with coupons) for 1 or 2 bucks. :) well worth it for me. :)

I really like the Schick Intuition, which has the built-in shaving cream solid, but I do think the cartridges are pretty expensive - I try to buy the 6-pack so I can go longer between drugstore trips, but I think that's like $30!

I've been thinking of switching back to the Venus!
I do like the Intuition, though haha.

I love the Venus. Been using it since I was 16!

Umm yah, cheap razors=no good. What's wrong with you?! Lol, sorry but there is a difference. Not thrilled with any razor out there, I'm using Venus currently though. I like using the men's razor idea, I should try and buy one and see what it's like. Another method is waxing your legs, I hear it's WAY better then shaving. Not sure if I could wait 6 weeks of no shaving But the results I hear are the best.

i've used a venus for years and almost every time i go to buy the (expensive) replacement blades i'm tempted to just buy a cheapie razor BUT i don't because i really like the venus and have never had problems with it. seriously, i've maybe cut myself a couple of times over the past 8-10 (?) years using it. i say keep it!

I agree, men's razors seem to be far superior. Mach 3 is my favorite and has been for years.

gilette fusion -the one that has a battery and vibrates! Also a men's razor, but awesome- my husband has one, but I "borrow" it all the time!

Love the venus, but I love my husband's Gillette four blade vibrating razor even better :) . Seriously dislike those cheap nasty ones - they don't even do a close shave and they scar you :/ . Definitely get the mens - your legs are worth it!

Wallie said...

I actually use the Venus disposable razors. lol...I love 'em!!

I've used the Venus for years and I love it. I've tried others here and there, but none of them have given me a close shave without cutting my poor skin as well as the Venus does.

The more blades, the better. I know it sounds excessive, but razors with four and even five blades make my shave the best ever! But honestly, I pretty much only shave my legs if I'm going to be wearing shorts or a skirt.... so basically for Sundays. =) Why wear out a razor, waste shaving cream, and waste my time if no one knows?! All girls feel this way, right???
