READER SUBMISSION

Whitney and I recently found Lauren and Madison's blog Awkward Girls and fell in love.  These two remind us of the good ol' days when we were roommates.  These lucky gals get each other's advice on daily fashion questions whenever they want!  Although, today they have a question for all you e-roommates.

Hello Ask the Duplex readers! We're so happy Monica and Whitney asked us to post today! Even though we are actually roommates, we kind of dress exactly the same. So we always need an unbiased third party opinion to help us out. We're really looking forward to hearing your trusty fashion advice.
Well we're Lauren and Madison and we blog over at Awkward Girls, where we blog about life, fashion, college, and kittens.

If you read our blog, you know that our style is a melting pot of lots of different styles and trends. But one trend we really like to experiment with is menswear-inspired.
Trousers, tailored shirts, oxfords and loafers, neckties... The whole Sha-Bang.
Like so:

But here's the kicker. Sometimes we feel like we dress too manly.
Like, sometimes people tell us we dress like Ellen Degeneres.
Not that we don't love her or anything. But what are they trying to say, exactly?
So that is what we're asking you.
Where is the line between menswear inspired and just straight up MANLY?
We were this close to wearing blazers too. Would that have gone too far? Or not far enough?
We love the trend, but we really want to make sure we're not losing our femininity.
Yes, we're the Awkward GIRLS. We're girls!
Awkward Girls Who Dress Like Men just isn't as catchy.

Let us know what you think. Thanks Roomies!

xoxo

No way! I think you ladies are freaking adorable! Your long hair (and how it's nicely styled) helps bring the feminine factor.

They both look pretty girly to me, I don't think they have anything to worry about :)

I have OFTEN wondered the same thing because that's one of my favorite styles too. I think bringing in feminine colors, hair, and jewelry really help tone down the manliness. :) (just like you two did here) You girls look LOVELY as always. :)
