READER SUBMISSION

Man, we have a lot of gorgeous e-roommates.  Today we have Merrick from Merrick's Art here at the Duplex and I think you guys just might love her.  Cuz, we sure do.  Let's help her out with her query for her roommates, shall we?

****

Hi Roommates! I'm Merrick from Merrick's Art, where I blog about personal style, refashioning and sewing clothes, and my really cute baby boy, Peanut. I'm super excited to be over here on Ask The Duplex this week!

My question for you guys is about leather. I got this awesome leather jacket from my in-laws for Christmas, and I bought this pair of leather boots from Target several years ago (both are very faux, in case it isn't obvious enough).

I have worn them together a few times, but every time I do, I wonder if it's just too much leather. Like, am I channeling a biker chick? Cause that's not really my style.

What do you girls think? Keep the leather separate? Or pair it up and throw on a head bandana while I'm at it?

I don't think it's too much leather, but I think it would be better as too individual pieces just because they are slightly different browns. But that's just my opinion, it is still a great outfit :)

I think the two look good together - I'd say it is not too much leather! and I am already a fan of your blog! : )

No, not too much leather. It would probably be too much if one of the pieces weren't boots - boots are supposed to be leather (at least, so many boots are) that they don't really count towards the biker-chic ensemble..

perhaps the different browns are more of an issue. But then, I'm neurotic that way. I spent ten minutes scrutinizing the grey of my tights and the grey of my skirt before going to church last week. I finally asked my dad, who looked at me like I was crazy and said it was fine. I didn't have recourse to another opinion, so I just wore it :) so you probably shouldn't listen to me when it comes to color matching.

If they were both black, maybe it would look biker-ish, but they are brown so you're good!

I would say keep them separate because the 2 colors dont match.

I actually like that they are not "match-matchy" - I think THAT would look sillier to me, to have your boots and coat be the exact same shade of brown (not so bad when they are both black). I say the outfit is great and the pop of colour on your shirt and cardi make it more neutral and just a layering piece. Love!

i think it's a go. if the colors were the same, it might go in the wrong direction, but i think you look super cute!

I think you should wear one or the other. :) Not together. Like you said: a little too biker chick. :) :) lol

i LOVE this and LOVE your style! =) I don't think I would have noticed the two leathers if I passed you on the street.

Love this look!! Because the leather are two tones, it's not too much to the eye and the bright colors you paired with it keeps it far away from looking biker chick. Can't believe you have a little guy - you don't look like you've had kids!!

If they were the exact same shade, it might be weird, but otherwise I say you're good!
