....or black and white stripes

A few months ago I pinned this top to my pinterest board...even though it was out of stock and I couldn't have it.  Though even if it had been in stock, it was 40 buck-a-roonies.  And who has 40 bucks to spend on a shirt?  Maybe some of you. But not this little cheapskate.  Only in my dreams do I buy expensive items.  But that is what pinning is all about, right?  Dreaming.

But then sometimes dreams come true.  And sometimes the reality is a little bit different than the dream. Like this top, for instance.  Not quite as fabulous as the modcloth version but the same idea, nonetheless.

The cut is a little bit different, the stripes are a little bit thinner, it was 70% cheaper, and it came with this belt-- that may or may not be placed in an awkward spot.

I put it on my body and thought, "Are belts supposed to go right under your chest?"  I mean I know belts are used as accessories these days instead of for logical reasons--like holding up your pants.

But, I can't tell how I feel about the belt.  It's not holding up anything...it's not really accentuating my waist..it's just kind of there- right under my chest.

Do you think I should get rid of the belt and cut off the little loops?

Or do you like it better with the belt?

I like better without the belt, but I wonder how it would look with a thick black belt down lower than the skinny one.

I like it! But if the consensus to get rid of it since its in an awkward place, then you need other accessories. A long Statement necklace would work.

I think it looks better without the belt because the belt is in kind of a weird place. If the belt sat more on your natural waist (just down an inch or two) it would look great though.

no belt! and kohls has a very similar shirt to the one above but instead of stripes its polka dots! i just got it last week and i think it was on sale for $20. it has the same structure and bottom ruffle as that one but it comes with a hideous orange belt. i took the belt off and used a black dress die from some target dress!

i agree that the belt is odd. i say no belt or a thicker belt down lower.

I say with a belt but not where it is sitting now. Try a fun colored skinny belt, cut the loops and let it sit at your natural waist.

Option 1: definitely remove the belt and get rid of the belt loops; wear with no belt
Option 2: Wear your Own belt with it and place it at your natural waist line. Probably a bright color to contrast the b&w :)

such a great look alike find!!!

I like it belted, but I'd cut off the loops and wear the belt at your natural waist.

Found you yesterday via Clothed Much and am following you now! :)

Adorable. I think I like it without the belt. I LOVE black and white stripes and you did such a good job of creating the "look" you were going for!

I actually really like your version better than your inspiration! AND I think I am in the minority in that I really like the belt :)

I love your top! Very good and affordable copy-cat. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I am happy to find Ask the Duplex. I love supporting fellow teachers!

And I loved the guest post on Clothed Much about hair washing. I wash mine twice a week! Glad to know I'm not the only "disgusting" gal out there! ;)

I love your top! I think I like it best without the belt, it kind of elongates your torso! :)

I love the top... and the belt! But I'm not be the best person to ask since I am sort of a belt addict. I love belts as a "decoration" item. I say keep the belt!
