Should I keep this dress?
I am feeling kind of lukewarm about the thing. In theorey this bad boy should be right up my alley. And it was. I MEAN I BOUGHT IT. But now that I am at home and not in front of those magical dressing room mirrors at the GAP I am second guessing myself.Pros: Great length and sleeves. Cons: Horizontal stripes do nothing for my hips. What do you think?

YES!!! I love the belt with it and think it does look flattery! keep it!
I mean flattering and flattery : )
Keep it! I love stripes; you can never have too many. I would style it differently though. Maybe go with a thicker belt a little higher up to give the dress more shape. I would also wear different shoes - you don't need stripes on your feet too! Maybe some basic flats or heels that don't cut you off right below the ankle. Cute dress!
love the dress!! looks great on you!
I think it's really cute! It would be cute with some white or tan sandals in the summer.
Yes! Keep! I've been eyeing this dress at Gap too so I'm glad to see it works belted. I love it with the belt but would maybe wear it a little higher toward your natural waist and switch out the shoes. A bright pair of flats or summery gladiator would do the trick. cute.
keep it! You could balance out the stripes with a cardigan. Almost any color would look really cute!
i think it would look totally cute with one of those long cardigans (under OR on top of the belt). if you are self-conscious of your hips, i think it would trim a few inches off the sides and hide them well. just a thought!
There is definitely something tricky about those dressing room mirrors...you feel like a supermodel at the store and a hobo at home! I think the dress looks adorable on you. I think it would look really cute with a cardigan with a belt around it, too. Love the length! Keep it!
If you want to hide your hips I would add a longer length lightweight cardigan, or a cute blazer. I think a thicker belt and different shoes would look cute too. A sandal wedge would look lighter than these brown sandals and would go better with the feel of the dress, summery etc.
it is hard to pass up a dress that has sleeves AND is long enough, I totally get why you bought it regardless! ;)
Yes, keep it! You can add a lightweight blazer or cardi to it. I think it's a great dress, perfect for spring and summer! :)

Yes, keep. Add some yellow in a cardi, belt, jewelry and it can have a nautical look. Add a white blazer/denim jacket if it's cooler. I have one like this and the jacket helps tone down the horizontal stripes.
I really love it, but I do think it puts an emphasis on the hips.
Keep it! The colour really suits you :)

it looks great on you! BUT i can tell by your pictures that you are not comfortable in it. If you are not going to wear it, then take it back, its not worth the money spent. but you do look great in it but YOU should feel confident in what you wear :)
I like it!
Cute! But I would pair it with pumps and not a strappy sandal. That way it opens up and elongates your legs which slims down the look of the upper thigh/hip area.
I have to agree with Mallory...I think it is cute, but you have to wear it. And I can not tell you HOW many times I have kept something U really did like, only for it to collect dust in the back of my closet because I did not feel good in it!! Any outfit you wear should make you feel good about yourself...everything else is a waste of money!!

I think you need a big, wide light tan belt. And light tan shoes - a feminine pump not a sandal. Then I think it would look great! I"m also picturing a short white denim jacket with a wide colored/tan belt. I'd love to see how that would look!
You should wear a pair of nude shoes with it and then you will look taller. I would also go with a more colorful belt.
As you're wearing it I don't think it does you any favors. Definitely pair it with a different shoe, grab a wider belt, add a punch necklace to draw the eye up and then see how you feel. If you still don't feel like you rock it, then send it out the door, a cute in theory dress is not worth the closet space.
I think a different colored belt and different shoes would do wonders for this dress. Don't lose hope yet!
Thank you so much for all of this amazing advice! I am going to take it a revamp the outfit.
Different shoes-
Chunky Necklace
Wider belt.
Thanks!
low slung belt and pull it up mini length over it.
