European Travel Maxi

Do you guys remember when I asked what shoes I should bring on my European adventure?  Well, I actually ended up getting both.

But, I can't bring two pair of everything in my closet.  I have created a "To Pack" list and I decided to bring one maxi.  Of course I can't decide which maxi to bring.

Which maxi skirt do you think would be the most versatile for traveling?

Option 1

Option 2

 Option 3

Do you guys think Option 1, 2, or 3 would be best for traveling?

Also, what is your "must have" travel item?  Is there anything you always make sure to bring with you when you travel?

The third one. Easier to keep free of spots or at least less visible. :-)

Chapstick Fanatic said...

i LOVE that red one. i think it would look beautiful in pictures - a pop of red against all the historic buildings. however, i would just bring whatever is most comfortable. and are you putting everything in one backpack? maybe whatever doesn't wrinkle.

i pick the third one! I think you could wear it with different tops easier. but love them all!

BiblioMOMia said...

The red or the stripes--you will be very tired of trying to coordinate that print by the end of the trip! There's nothing better for travel than a great maxi...

Deveny said...

The third one - a solid color would be more versatile I would think (although can't go wrong with stripes). Plus I think it's the cutest of the bunch. :)

Sarah said...

I think option 2 or 3 would be the most versatile! Good luck!! (and good call on the shoes!)

I'm leaning towards the red one because I think it will be easier to coordinate outfits with that but I also love the stripes!

Court B said...

Ooooo...I would say either the stripes or the red. It just depends on what shirts you are bringing! If I had to pick, I guess I would say the red. When I recently went to Italy, my must haves were dry shampoo, protein bars, and an alternate plan for how I wore my hair. My straightener did not work over there for some reason. It was sad, so sad.

I like option 3. It is very versatile and you can wear it with many different colors and prints. My second choice would be 2. I think option 3 would be a little two dressy and fussy.

Brandi said...

Option three!

Rebecca said...

I think you should bring 3, since the solid color will probably be able to be worn with a greater variety of tops.

Emily said...

The red one. Solid colors are so much easier to match with a ton of stuff.

THREE!!!!!

#3 for sure Monica.

3! It's bright, it's fun, it's flowy.

Kristen said...

Option 1. If you wear a bold and bright piece (like the red) multiple days on a vaca, your pictures will be like "wow, did i wear the same thing EVERYDAY", but if you go with the first one and switch between a black/brown top tucked in, an longer aqua top untucked and a belt overtop, the same skirt will look like 2 TOTALLY different outfits (wear diff jewelry too, bold one day and delicate another). It's easier to make a bold print look completely different than you might imagine.

Anonymous said...

Option 2. The red one is beautiful and all, but for backpacking around Europe? hmm...The striped one will be easy to pair with things, it's interesting, and it looks comfy/stretchy. The red one will get dirty easily, while the first one would be hard to pair with things.

Domestic Diva said...

I would say #1 or #3. The stripes are cute and very flattering but I think those shoes will look weird with it ... maybe that is just me. Since you showed the shoes you bought and are bringing, I would go with either the print or the red. I don't think you can go wrong with either :)

Meredith said...

I like the third option. I think it would be the most versatile because you can throw a lot of different patterns with it. It would also make some really cute color blocked outfits. Hope you have a fun trip!

I thought "go for option 3" but after reading Kristen's convincing argument I'd agree with all of her points. Pick #1

Christa said...

I love option one the best. I agree with the top and jewelry change up. I just love to take my husband with me;)

Jordan Jaked said...

The third one. You can color block it or wear it with prints, and it would be the easiest to 'dress up' for a night out.

Also, the photographer in me LOVES a bold solid in pictures.

Three. Three. Three.

Alicia Segerson said...

I say the 3rd option, the red maxi. It was a toss up between that and the 1st option, but I think you'll get more wear out of the red! Have fun!!!

Carli Goeman said...

I say option one, more colors to match too... doesn't show wrinkles or spilled stuff easily!!

Laura said...

option2!

Sara Shoemaker said...

The bright orange one! Think of all the different colors you could pair it with. You could color-block it with a close shade of hot pink, wear all white on top, mix stripes and dots with blazers, etc. very cute! You're going to Europe by the way?! LUCKY!!

option 3!

Ronda said...

I was going to say 2, but then thought of the shoes you are bringing and I'm going to go with 1. I think that you can rock that with all sorts of different shirts and can take it from casual to dressy. I now need to go and get a maxi skirt! My must have travel item is face cleanser wipes: easy to pack and don't need water to wash off the day depending on where you are staying & sunscreen.

smalltown20something said...

I love the red one. Being solid colored means you can pair it with so much more!

Ms. Becca said...

The third, for sure. For all the reasons above. And my must have for all trips? Tweezers. Even when I'm camping (splinters!)

Domestic Diva said...

Okay is it just me that cannot see any new posts and is wondering what is wrong and where is the duplex?!?

Alicia Segerson said...

I know, Domestic Diva!!! I need my roommate fix!!!!!

Sarah said...

an extra cord for my cellphone charger, in case mine brakes. and for out of the u.s. I always bring adapters. Also, I was recently in Europe, traveling with just a backpack, and I'd say that option 1 would be the best for the skirt. It is the most versatile, because it is a more subtle pattern. These things I wished I thought about before I left. :) I hope you have a great time.

When does Monica get back from Europe and begin planning her next Calif trip and cruise? My subscription agreement did not anticipate 12 weeks a year of fashion research travel by the hostess....

Lauren said...

Can you post your packing list? I am leaving for Europe next week and would love some a guide!

CP and KW said...

I'm going to have to vote for Option 3, though I love all of them! I always bring a cardigan in a neutral color (think tan or white or black) because you never know when the weather could do a quick change and it's nice to have some quick layering options. Have a fabulous trip!

packing for traveling is so hard! but hey i get it, i spent all summer in europe

I think the bottom one is perfect for traveling, it's bright and fun so you still feel like you're dressing up but also a simple color with no bold patterns which makes it versatile

the toms and sperry's were a good choice you'll be so glad. i wore my sperry's the whole time i was there.

anyways i can't wait to see your adventures, and you'll have fun no matter what you wear :)

I only possess a handful of hundred "friends" on Facebook
because I only "friend" individuals that I'm already buddies with, or ones I perception I will get to know better/am getting to know. Since I keep the circle close, I really feel far more comfortable placing up statii like "I'm so enthusiastic about my date tonite!
" or alternately "Boy that was a boring day." Considering that I talk about my life, I never genuinely feel it really is appropriate for people I may be dating to potentially see minutae about other men and women I'm relationship that are not them. And same goes for me, I don't have to see regarding their dates. I presume that unless we're unique, we are both relationship other men and women, and it is just very good etiquette to not shove it in someone's encounter.
Now, in the event the individual I am relationship is like you and "friends" everyone they satisfy, then somewhat status like mine is going to get misplaced inside the flood, and doesn't matter. But, I just believe it is good manners not to entail somebody in Facebook circles till it is much more "serious.
