We're so happy to have Lauren here from Gypsy Pioneer. It somehow still amazes me each time I'm reading a blog of a cute, stylish girl and then I find out they're a mom. The word "mom" still lends itself to the idea of mom jeans and festive sweaters in my mind, but many of you out there, including Lauren, prove that that is not the case any more. Here's Lauren:
1st question:
Does this outfit look better with heels...or flats?
I feel like I am constantly asking myself this question! I never can
decide if my heels or flats look better. With this outfit, I feel like
the heels make my legs look longer and slimmer, but worry the skirt is
too short. What are the rules for length of skirt and shoes?
2nd question:
This was my attempt at pattern mixing...my polka dot cardigan with a
striped top...is it too much? What are the pattern mixing rules? They
are both black and white, and both on top, which I think might be a bit
much. What do you think?
Tank/Heels/Flats: Target, Cardigan: Forever 21, Skirt: Old Navy, Tights: Marshalls, Headband: MGPdesigns
ps. sorry about the wrinkled skirt...this girl doesn't iron unless it's an emergency :)

I think both heels and flats work. But I like flats better.
Flats for this outfit in my opinion.
I think the patterns look good together because they are such different sizes.
I like flats for this outfit although for some occasions or outings I'd switch out the as for heels. And the pattern mixing is perfect!! :)
I like the flats. The pattern mixing works for me!
Definitely the flats with the this outfit, and the mixing of patterns is perfection. Love it with the pink!
i would say flats unless for a special occasion.

Flats! And great job with the pattern mixing!
i like flats best, and the patterns together are great.
I think both the flast and heels work with the skirt. And I definitely dont' think the skirt is too short with the heels, but I often find that black tights with short(er) skirts makes it better, since it's not like you're showing a whole lotta leg! Love the mixing of patterns, good job :)

I like the flats, though I don't think the skirt is too short if you prefer the heels. Pattern mixing looks awesome!
I defintely love the flats with this outfit. Your pattern mixing is great.
Flats for sure; heels are dressing up the outfit too much.
I think the pattern mixing is just right!
flats definitely. :)
Ok, I LOVED seeing this today... I have the same cardigan AND skirt! How ironic! You look darling. I love the flats with it, might as well right? They are usually more comfy anyway and you can get away with it with this outfit!

I love this outfit! What a cute lady! And I adore her line about ironing. I hate it too! :)

flats!
I say heels! The skirt doesn't look that short because of the tights. Minus the tights and I'd say flats.
As far as the patterns go, I think it looks great because neither the shirt or sweater are to flashy/busy.
Looks sweet and girly with flats. More polished and professional with heels.
that is such a lovely dress
the heels give it something more but depends where do you plant to wear it and so. For me it's always more comfortable to weat flats especially if I have to walk a lot. So my choice is obvious. But I love the heels :)
